Screw-in steel piers reach stable soil to support additions, decks and lighter structures - with minimal disruption.
A helical pier is a steel shaft with load-bearing plates that turns into the ground like a screw until the torque says it has reached soil that can carry weight. Because they generate their own capacity, they work under structures too light to drive a push pier - additions, porches, sunrooms, decks and lighter coastal homes.
Sand does not carry a load evenly
Coastal lots are sand, fill and organic layers over whatever the builder found, and competent soil can sit well below the footing. Additions and porches show it first: they are lighter than the house, they were often put on shallow footings, and they pull away from the main structure as the ground beneath them compresses.
Turn a pier down to soil that holds
Helical piers are advanced with hydraulic torque, and torque is measured capacity - we know what each pier will carry before any load is transferred to it. Steel brackets tie the piers to the existing footing, then the weight moves off the soil and onto the piers. On light structures that is often the only way to get real capacity.
Stable, documented, and it stays that way
Movement stops because the load is no longer resting on the layer that moves. You get the installation log - pier locations, depths and final torque - and engineered pier stabilization can carry a long-term warranty that transfers to the next owner of the house.

What a helical pier installation includes
Every pier is engineered, verified and logged. A typical installation includes:
- Soil, load and depth assessment before any pier is specified
- Pier count, spacing and locations set by the engineering, not by eye
- Excavation at each location with spoil kept off your landscaping
- Helical shafts advanced to verified torque rather than a fixed depth
- Steel foundation brackets tied into the existing footing
- Controlled load transfer, with a lift attempt where the structure allows
- Installation log with depths and torque, plus before and after photos
What we won’t do
We will not quote a pier count over the phone, we will not drive piers to a depth instead of to measured capacity, and we will not promise a lift a structure cannot take. What is realistically achievable goes in writing before you sign anything.

Push piers or helical piers - which do I need?
Push piers use the weight of the structure to drive to load-bearing strata, so they suit heavier homes. Helical piers screw in and generate their own capacity, which makes them right for lighter structures, additions, porches and decks. Soil conditions and the load decide it - that call comes out of the inspection.
What do foundation piers cost?
Pier work is priced per pier, and the count comes from the engineering - how much of the structure has settled, how deep load-bearing soil sits, and the weight of the house. That's why we won't quote piers over the phone. After the inspection you get a fixed price with the pier count, locations and depth expectations written down.
Is foundation settlement fixed permanently?
When piers are engineered and installed correctly, yes. Push and helical piers carry the load down to stable strata well below the surface layer that moves - and that work can carry a long-term transferable warranty that follows the house to the next owner.
